2yo winning double for Without Parole

02/08/2024

Mr Chaplin stormed home to win the competitive Jaeger-Lecoultre Nursery over 7f at Glorious Goodwood yesterday. Later that evening Parole d’Oro became the seventh winner for his sire Without Parole with an eye-catching victory in the 7f EBF Novice Stakes at Epsom.

Without Parole now has an impressive 37% winners to runners with his first-crop.

A second victory for Mr Chaplin, he once again showed an impressive turn of foot having seen little daylight until the last half-furlong to win by a neck from Original Outlaw. (View the race courtesy of Racing TV).

Trainer Ralph Beckett said: “To win from that draw [12] takes a bit of doing. The Gunthers own half of Original Outlaw but bred Without Parole [Mr Chaplin’s sire], so they will have mixed feelings as well! But they have a nice horse on their hands. I thought the second was my best chance of the day, not the winner, because of the draw. But the winner might be better than I thought he was.”

Jockey Rossa Ryan said: “I had the most terrible run round. Mr Chaplin would have been a very unlucky story from a bad draw. He has to be a decent animal to do what he did. The Coventry Stakes didn’t work out for him, but he was crying out for this trip and a mile might be on the cards soon. He is a lovely horse and one to keep on the right side of in future.”

Earlier this year Mr Chaplin won his maiden at Newbury for trainer Ralph Beckett and owners Michael Rembaum & Tanya Rembaum.

A half-brother to Stakes winner Mubtasimah, Mr Chaplin was bred by Silfield Bloodstock, and is out of the Anabaa mare Midnight Hush, a sister to Gr.3 sprinter Miss Anabaa from the family of Gr.1 July Cup winner Owington. The colt was purchased for 120,000gns at the Tattersalls October Sale Book 1 by bloodstock agent Alex Elliott.

Parole d’Oro confirmed the promise of his debut outing a few weeks ago at Ascot where he finished second for trainer Michael Bell and owner Mrs I Corbani. He kept on well inside the final furlong to win this Pick And Place Your Stakes Challenge EBF Restricted Novice Stakes by a comfortable one and a quarter length. Bred by Papillon Stables Earl, Parole d’Or is a half-brother to the US Gr.3 winner Love And Thunder out of the Medaglia d’Oro mare Pretty Paper, a daughter of US Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup second Take The Ribbon. He was sold to Nick Bell for 62,000gns at the Tattersalls October Book 2 Sale consigned by Newsells Park Stud.

A son of Frankel and winner of the prestigious Gr.1 St James’s Palace Stakes, Without Parole is looking to be an exciting young sire with seven winners from his first-crop already.
