It was a memorable day for stallions standing at Newsells Park Stud.  Firstly Nathaniel’s daughter Enable made a stunning return to the track in 2018 winning the Gr.3 September Stakes at Kempton in style.

Later in the day it was the King of Speed Equiano’s turn to celebrate when The Tin Man landed his third Gr.1 success in winning the 32Red Sprint Cup Stakes at Haydock.

Five-time Gr.1 winner Enable made all the running under Frankie Dettori and was never challenged to win easily by over three lengths from Crystal Ocean.

Trainer John Gosden said: “I was confident Enable would do that today as she’s high class. That was a nice race for both horses if you’re having a prep for an Arc and it was good to see Enable back, as it’s been a long wait. She’ll come on for that as she was only 80 per cent fit – 85 at a stretch – but she’s in a good place mentally and she’s enjoyed it.”

Dettori was also impressed: “That was awesome. I wasn’t sure how fit she was as she’s only being going a mile at home, but then she’s trained by a master trainer. She got the job done and felt as good as ever. Bring on the Arc!”

Nathaniel is having a great year with five individual Group winners and fifteen Group/Stakes horses in 2018, including the two-year-old Floating Artist finishing second today in the Listed Ascendant Stakes at Haydock.

Today was capped for Newsells Park Stud with the consistent son of Equiano, The Tin Man, cracking the Gr.1 Sprint Cup at Haydock at the third attempt, having finished second in 2016 and third last year.

Given a great ride by the in-form Oisin Murphy, this previous winner of the Gr.1 QIPCO British Champions Sprint Stakes and Gr.1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes was also raised and consigned by Newsells Park Stud.

Trainer James Fanshawe said: “The Tin Man is a wonderful horse who has been so consistent. You could argue he’s been unlucky a couple of times this year. He’s run two very good races at Ascot and Deauville when he’s flew at the end. We were concerned about the ground, but the rest of the family love it. We’ll look to Ascot next (Champions Sprint) as he loves it there.”
