Trainer Ralph Beckett said: “She was training well in the spring and did it the hard way at Lingfield, then it didn’t work out in the Oaks and she went a bit hard in the Ribblesdale, which can happen at Ascot. A tongue strap on today probably helped, it just gave You Got To Me something else to think about. Hector said he had to barge through everywhere to get a position and to keep his position. She’s a very brave filly.”

Jockey Hector Crouch said: “She’s a horse I’ve always had a lot of faith in. I thought she was very good and probably hadn’t quite lived up to it yet. For her to go and prove me right on the biggest stage is a really unbelievable feeling. It’s not only my first Classic, but my first Group 1.

“I got a nice enough run round and was able to edge off the fence with three to run and had a smooth enough passage from two and a half down. Then it was a case of whether she was good enough to hold on, and she was every inch good enough.”

You Got To Me is owned by the partnership of Valmont & Newsells Park Stud Bloodstock 24 , the latter being the new racing and breeding investment fund set up by the stud earlier this year.

Earlier this season You Got To Me won the Listed William Hill Oaks Trial at Lingfield and finished fourth in the Gr.1 Epsom Oaks and Gr.1 Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot.

The fourth Classic winner and ninth Gr.1 winner for her sire Nathaniel, You Got To Me was bred by Dullingham Park Stud & Sarabex. She is out of the Medicean mare Brushing, winner of the Listed Galtres Stakes over 1m4f at York, from the family of Group winners Wait Till Monday and Token Gesture, dam of Gr.1 Canadian International hero Relaxed Gesture, and multiple Gr.1 winner Buffering.
