Nathaniel’s history making weekend continued on a high with a new Gr.1 winner when God Given landed the Gr.1 Premio Lydia Tesio in Rome today for owner breeder St Albans Bloodstock Ltd.

The four-year-old filly gave her trainer Luca Cumani the perfect finale to his training career with a top-level triumph in his homeland having recently announced his retirement at the end of this season.

It was God Given’s fifth Stakes success having won the Gr.2 DFS Park Hill Stakes and Gr.3 Betway Pinnacle Stakes this year, and last season she won the Gr.3 Prix Minerve and Listed Betbright Aphrodite Stakes.

A half-sister to three-time Gr.1 winner Postponed, God Given is the fourth foal out of Ever Rigg, a winning Dubai Destination mare whose dam is the Gr.1 Moyglare Stud Stakes winner Bianca Nera, from the further family of Stakes winners Bondi Beach and Gale Force Ten.

God Given is from the very successful first-crop of Newsells’ sire Nathaniel, as is the history making Enable, a winner of 7 Gr.1 races including the historic Gr.1 Arc and Breeders’ Cup double, as well as back-to-back victories in the Gr.1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, the Gr.1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes and three Gr.1 Oaks races.
