Newsells Park Stud has announced the 2019 fees for Nathaniel and Equiano.
Dual Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes winner and Group 1 sire, Equiano will stand at a reduced fee of £6,000, while Nathaniel, sire of the brilliant seven-time Group 1 winner Enable will see his fee increase to £25,000.
Commenting on the fees, Newsells Park Stud’s General Manager, Julian Dollar said: “Breeders’ Cup weekend was the final confirmation that Nathaniel, is one of Europe’s leading stallions. His daughter Enable secured her place as one of the great Champion racemares of all time. The first horse to win the Group 1 Arc de Triomphe and the Group 1 Breeders’ Cup Turf in the same year, and a Group race winner on each of her last eight starts.
“On the same weekend God Given became the second Group 1 winner from Nathaniel’s first crop landing the Premio Lydia Tesio over ten furlongs. Like Enable, God Given has proved to be a remarkably consistent high-class performer winning a further three Group races, a Listed race and was placed in two more Group races.
““Enable and God Given are the two stars of Nathaniel’s outstanding first crop. His two Group 1 winners, 11 Group performers and eight Black Type winners putting him up among the top five sires in Europe. From his first two crops he has produced Group horses at a rate which puts him among the best sires in Europe and right behind Dubawi and Frankel among British based sires.
“His second crop has included the Group winning fillies Pilaster and Highgarden and the Listed winners Amorella, Perfect Clarity and Sladina. His two-year-olds from his third crop are headed by the Stakes performing colts Nate The Great and Floating Artist, and includes several promising maidens winners.
“Our other Group 1 sire, Equiano continues to be a consistent source of tough high-class sprinters, with The Tin Man winning his third Group 1 race, Belvoir Bay having seven Group/Stakes wins to her name, and the Group 2 two-year-old Medicine Jack adding another Stakes race to his form in 2018. Equiano has sired 23 Group/Stakes winners and performers, eight in 2018, 17 of whom gained black-type as a two-year-old.
“Whilst hardly a day goes by without a winner by Equiano, we are keen to provide great value to breeders and maintain his books of on average 100 mares each season, so have taken the decision to decrease his fee to £6,000.”
